Kevin has a great story to tell, he is up front and real about his life experiences. Our paths crossed years ago before he moved to Atlanta and I could tell then that he was a man on the move. His insight to life is extraordinary and being a Life Coach he shares his insight in a thought provoking way in this inspiring book.

This is certainly a book that will be a positive influence in a time where there are many things to distract our young leaders. The plan is to get these out to the youth as a supplement for their career and professional development. There is no better way to learn than to have it told from real life experiences! I know this will be of benefit to many. It's a fantastic piece of storytelling.

In from Ghetto to Greatness, I found both an author and a story that I could relate to. Although I'm from the Bronx, and this story is set in Snoop Dogg country in Long Beach and surrounding areas, I found common ground in the culture and era of the central character. The story follows the adventures of the main character from elementary through high school, and is told from the first person perspective of Jerome Green. This narrative choice by the author gives him the chance to establish himself as an authority by including so many authentic details that you know Kevin Brown is no outsider to the culture. He is intimately familiar with the characters, events, and neighborhoods about which he writes.

The story is often hilarious, but this is no comedy. It is the story of a boy raised with little parental supervision, surrounded by wrong, tempted by evil, and addicted to substances and behaviors that threaten to destroy him. It is a drama enacted in real life on every corner, in every hood in America. As you can guess from the title, Jerome finally chooses door #2 and makes it out, but not without scars.

Whereas my own Stonheart: The Bronx is a cautionary tale filled with dramacidal relationships, ghetto extremes, and devastating consequences, From Ghetto To Greatness offers slightly lightly fare but with the same sense of caution. Books like these will hopefully give younger brothers and sisters pause to think before they act, and cause to move through life with a higher sense of purpose.

Brilliant job by author Kevin Brown, as he takes us on an insightful journey through ghetto life and lessons learned. This book is intriguing and inspiring!...It drew me into a world I will never experience firsthand, but captured my attention from cover to cover... penetrating the depths of the soul...grasping, tugging at, and touching every emotion... real, revealing, and human!! I very much enjoyed the musical history and journey through the 70s...Fabulous! Extraordinarily written...Definitely a "must read!"

Very rarely these days do you find something that's truly moving that can inspire and intrigue both young and old. But "From Ghetto to Greatness" does just that. A GREAT read and an even greater testimony. Even though it takes place on the opposite coast, I see those same type of situations right here in North Carolina ...youth looking for something more, but not knowing where to turn when their only options are fast-food, drugs or the military. Thanks to Kevin Brown (Jerome) for proving there IS another viable choice and taking us on his journey to greatness.

This is an inspirational book. I recommend it to any and everyone, young or old. Pass it on to your teenagers, they will like the story and may even get something they can use from it.

I began reading this book, and did not put it down until I completed it. This book is excellent for anybody who is struggling with a troubled past. The author lets you know that your past does not have to become your future.

Author Kevin Brown captured a very insightful view of true ghetto life. Being a native of the LBC (Long Beach), I was taken back down memory lane with all of the references to neighborhood stores, schools I attended, dancing at the Hutch after Poly High games, King Park, etc. Being from the central district, I was enthralled with all of the familiar places I revisited while reading his book. I started and finished on Christmas night, not putting the novel down until I found out how the character, Jerome ended up. This story could have taken place in almost any ghetto community, and should be placed on the required reading list for all children over the age of ten. I feel you can never start too early educating children about the consequences of drug abuse. I'm looking for a sequel to this story and feel it would make a good screenplay.

Your book is mind blowing, wow!!! It took me back down memory lane to the good as well as the bad. Some things that I had I blocked out came back to life again. I laughed, I cried, never realized the t...ears could flow from my eyes as it did. As I continued to read on, it was as if you where speaking to me. I lived this. I was lucky to get this e-book from the author and although the writing wasnÕt truly solid I still enjoyed the book. It was a quick read and it kept my attention at all times. The book grabs you right from the beginning with his train accident. It fully grabbed you and made you want to read more. I really enjoyed how he spoke of his life and made it simple and real. It was hard to read at times because of such sadness but it kept me wanting to read more. It is always nice to read about personal triumph. This story is definitely one of those books that show personal growth. He comes from such a hectic background and at times it looked like he was headed down the wrong path but he would change and be brought back to reality and with all his hardships he learned to cope with it and instead of making things more negative he made them into positives and now he helps people achieve what he had. It helps to have someone really care about you and understand what you are going through ion life and I really feel that he is a positive role model and personal helper to those who really need it. I recommend this book to anyone either looking for some positive reinforcements or simply for just a great read.
